About

Welcome to Almost Clueless — a blog by a guy trying to make sense of life, one book and blog post at a time.

Who Am I?

I’m Nick. I wear too many hats: musician, streamer, statistician, wannabe game dev, storyteller, writer, artist, Python nerd. Sometimes it’s hard to tell where I end, and the ambition begins. The downside? I’m stretched too thin and nothing gets finished. If that sounds familiar, you’re in the right place.

Why I Started This Blog

I’ve had this idea — in one form or another — for over 15 years. It started as a podcast I never got around to, and then life happened. But in February 2025, something clicked. I’d just made a decision I’d agonized over for more than a year. I got the outcome I expected, but not the one I wanted.

One night, I found myself staring into space with my brain doing 400 mph and going absolutely nowhere. Then I looked at the towering stack of books I call my “To-Read Monolith” and thought… what if I actually used them?

Not just to learn. Not just to change my life. But to build a resource that might help someone else through the same storms I’ve had to navigate without a map.

What You’ll Find Here

I’m not an expert in anything I’m writing about. I’m just a curious guy with too many books and a brain that refuses to shut up. I’ll get things wrong. But that’s half the point — getting things wrong is how we get better.

Self-Exploration & Mindset

Foundations first. These posts will focus on mindset, identity, belief systems, and self-awareness — the starting point for everything else.

Systems & Problem Solving

Once we’ve got our minds in order, it’s time for tools. Think productivity, building better habits, systems thinking, and tackling problems head-on.

Society & Media

Now we zoom out. We’ll explore how society works (or doesn’t), how media shapes us, and how ideas connect and spread.

Storytelling & Creativity

Stories are how we make sense of the world — and ourselves. This section dives into narrative, creativity, and how to stay inspired even when your heroes turn out to suck.

Philosophy & Critical Thinking

Let’s get deep. Not pretentious armchair philosopher deep — more like “What does it even mean to live well?” deep. We’ll look at ideas, thinkers, and how to sharpen our ability to question things.
